E-Parenting: Modern Parenting in a Digital World

What is E-Parenting?

E-Parenting is the term used to describe modern parenting in a digital world. Today's parent is one who sometimes feels overwhelmed in the ever-changing, ever-growing worlds of technology and media, and works to find a proper balance between keeping up, and staying ahead of the kids. With things like cell phones that can access the Internet, and video game consoles as powerful as yesterday's home computers, how can you keep up with how your kids are using technology? And with all of this increased exposure to media, can you make sure that your child is only being exposed to appropriate content?

Much of the material for this section has been adapted from the *National Institute on Media and the Family's MediaWise Parenting*. For more information on the relationship between NIMF and Search Institute.
